Our adventure began in Turtle Bay, Balaclava, a tranquil haven nestled along Mauritius’ northwest coast. Picture-perfect beaches, swaying palm trees, and stunning sunsets awaited us at every turn.
Let’s not forget the diverse weather conditions! From sunny skies to occasional tropical showers, Mauritius kept us on our toes, adding an extra dash of excitement to our trip. While the northwest coast enjoys sunny skies and balmy temperatures almost all year round, other parts of the island can experience more unpredictable weather. So be sure to pack accordingly and keep an eye on the forecast.
During our stay, we opted for the ultimate relaxation experience at Maritim Resort and Spa, where luxury meets laid-back vibes. With an all-inclusive option, we indulged in sumptuous meals, and endless activities right at our fingertips.
From workout sessions (“who goes on a holiday to workout!” Well I gotta make more room in the belly and attempt to burn the fat) to sunset strolls along the beach, every moment was pure bliss.
Stopped by the cultural heartbeat of Mauritius – Port Louis. We took a stroll through the colorful stalls of the Central Market, where vendours peddle everything from exotic spices to handcrafted jewelry.
There were so many ideal souvenir options, so we settled for: saucers made from colourful woven grass, a wooden giraffe that recalls our Safari experience, a wall key holder, wooden bowls, and a magnet because it’s our thing (Google says we are memomagnetists).
The umbrella square at Port Louis is quaint, and lovely to see. Le Caudan Waterfront is where luxury brands and local artisans mingle amidst the backdrop of sparkling harbour views.
Of course, our trip to Mauritius wouldn’t be complete without a bit of adventure! Our boat cruise around the island promised breathtaking views, a bath in the most pristine waters of the island, and unforgettable memories.
However, halfway through our journey, our plans took an unexpected turn when safety issues forced us to dock early. While it wasn’t the smooth sailing we had envisioned, it was a reminder to embrace spontaneity and roll with the punches.
Undeterred, we dove headfirst into an underwater excursion aboard a glass-bottomed boat. As we glided over vibrant coral reefs and marine life, we were awestruck by the beauty that lay beneath the surface. From graceful sea turtles to colorful fishes, Mauritius’ underwater world was a sight to behold.
Last but certainly not least, we ventured for a safari experience at Casela Nature Parks. We rode aboard the game-viewing vehicle and also booked a quad experience. With rugged terrain, lush vegetation, and an abundance of wildlife, it felt like stepping into a scene from a nature documentary. From spotting majestic zebras to feeding friendly giraffes, every moment was an adventure waiting to be discovered.
As our time in Mauritius drew to a close, we couldn’t help but feel grateful for the memories we had made and the experiences we had shared. From luxurious relaxation to thrilling adventures, this island paradise has captured our hearts in more ways than we could have imagined. So much so that we tried to extend our trip.
